3 Beginner Filming Products You Need

I am still in the learning phase with filming and photography, but these are my tips for getting your foot in the door of the production world.

Adjustable Tripod

Filming on an iPhone is the easiest way to film, nowadays, and finding a widely adjustable tripod makes it even easier.

This tripod can hold any size phone—even up to a tablet. I have been using it for a while and it has held up extremely well. It adjusts up and down and side to side several different ways.

The adjustable gooseneck at the top makes it one of my favorites, because you can move it in any direction without altering the base.

There are several versions of this tripod, but this one is the one I have used. Its quality is very good for its price of only $25.

Light

Whether it is a ring light or professional studio light, having an extra light source will step up your filming game by a lot.

Ring lights are one of the cheapest beginner friendly filming lights that work for almost any type of content.

These lights offer a cold, warm, and neutral light tone, as well as a dimming button. This is the one I started out with back in 2020 and used for almost 2 years before upgrading to a more professional studio light.

Camera

This is not necessary, but something you should think about investing in, once you’ve grown a little bit.

I have been using my phone for photography for as long as I can remember, then one day I finally switched over to this camera and it changed my pictures completely. Although phones are a lot easier to use, a cameras picture quality is unexplainably better and is such a good investment to make.

It can be a bit pricy, so starting out with your iPhone camera is a good start. Though, down the road you won’t complain when your photography skills have developed along with all your other skills!
