Iced Brown Sugar Chai Shaken Espresso

Latte

  • double-shot of espresso

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (packed)

  • 2 tsp chai powder

  • 2/3 cup water

  • 1 chai tea bag

  • 2 tbsp creamer (whole, almond, oat, etc)


Double-Shot of Espresso

(with Espresso-Machine)

  • 16 grams coffee beans (double-shot)

(without Espresso-Machine)

  • instant espresso (amount depends on packaging’s instructions)

  • 1/4 cup water


The Casabrew is my go-to espresso machine because it is cheap (compared to others) and small, so it fits in every crevice of your kitchen!

I also have the Ultima Cosa espresso machine from Walmart (shown in this picture). Though the wand is not as strong as the Casabrew and it is a bit larger due to the built-in grinder.

  • 6 grams of chai powder

  • 158 grams water

  • 1 chai tea bag

  • 30 grams creamer (brown-sugar oat-milk creamer by Natural Bliss is a game-changer!)

Double-Shot

(with Espresso-Machine)

  • 16 grams coffee beans (double-shot)

(without Espresso-Machine)

  • instant espresso (amount depends on packaging’s instructions)

  • 60 grams water



Instructions

Step 1

  • Add a chai tea bag into hot water and let it sit for 3-5 minutes. Remove tea bag and put chai tea in the fridge (this is optional but allows your ice to not melt as quick!)

Step 2

  • Prepare double-shot of espresso:

    • With espresso machine: add brown sugar and chai powder to the bottom of your espresso cup and then prepare a normal double shot the same way you normally would.

    • Without espresso machine: prepare an instant shot of espresso (2x) according to packaging. With a double-shot it should come out to around 1/4 a cup of espresso. Once shot is made, add brown sugar and chai powder, and mix it in until combined.

Step 3

  • Add ice to a container with a lid and pour espresso over ice. Attach lid and shake espresso and ice together.

Step 4

  • Add espresso and ice into your desired cup.

  • Add chai tea and creamer over espresso and you are done!
